It was just announced that Disney would be bringing out a wide variety of new cartoons between now and next year. For years critics and some jaded Disney fans have concluded that the company isn't doing what it should be doing as far as bringing out Quality entertainment. Goofy teen shows aside, the problem lies in The Straw Man Argument of WHAT WOULD WALT DO.
Since The Main Head Honcho isn't here to make the decision most fans are under the assumption that Walt had all the answers. He was only human and did make mistakes from time to time even if he would never admit it to anyone other than his brother, Roy who had even greater doubts than him. But Uncle Walt was a risk taker as much as he was a believer in dreams. And as almost everyone knows it takes more than wishing on a falling star to make things happen.
In recent years their company has done some very risky things as far movies are concerned. They brought us a Princess who didn't start out as one in The Princess And The Frog but were criticized for not involving Alan Menken who wrote songs for the film, They experimented with a CGI animation with Tangled that did have his songs but again the reverse was true because some felt it shouldn't have been computer generated. And yet they failed to bring that same kind of magic to Mars Needs Moms by Robert Zemeckis who if I remember correctly did work for The Polar Express. He had intended to do a CGI remake of The Beatles Yellow Submarine which thankfully fell through.
In The TV Animation area they bring us Ducktales in The 80s then House Of Mouse in 2007 or thereabouts then drop the ball by reducing Mickey to doing shows for 5 years olds which would be fine IF he and the other Disney toon characters weren't reduce to being Babysitters.
Now according to an LA Times article Disney's Animation Studios plans to raise up their ammunition with more toons with bite to them with other creators such as Craig McCracken who was given the boot by Cartoon Network as well as others from Nickelodeon. Marvel has gotten into the act to compete with DC Nation. It's GOOD to see Disney getting back in The TV Animation again.
However the issue still remains with the core franchise. What's being done for Oswald The Lucky Rabbit outside of The Epic Mickey video game and the merchandise only in Japan? Is that all he's good for? It was believed that Craig could've been the one bring him and Mickey into a show but that's been thrown out the window since he's working on a toon called Wander From Beyonder.
We can only hope his 85th birthday will bring us good things and with it new cartoons or a new series.
Smurfs The Lost Village Review By Swarlock64
To say I was a bit worried about the direction that Sony was taking with The Smurfs for a third movie struck a nerve with me. I know they were aiming for a new generation to get into the characters for the first two films but in my opinion it was executed all wrong. Updating the designs to make them look realistic wasn't pleasing to me at all.
And if I say so, The Blue Minions seemed rather naive as they did in the first one. After all they did invent things that wouldn't be made for a few hundred years and could've adapted themselves into the world they came to in the same way they did for Season Nine in the Hanna Barbera Universe. Thin
Big News!!!
It was just reported on The Disney News Blog that Oswald will be featured in an original piece of art at this year's Festival of the Masters event at Downtown Disney.
The Event will be held on Nov 8th to Nov 11th.
That is all.

New Mickey Cartoon in October
Woohoo! We get a new Mickey cartoon during The Disney Channel Monsterober Event. Here's the blurb I pulled from the site below.

8:30pm Mickey Mouse
Ghoul Friend" – When Mickey's car breaks down in a spooky forest, a Goofy-looking ghoul gives chase to everyone's favorite mouse.
I can't wait.
A New Leash On Life For Mickey And Friends
So the new Mickey Mouse cartoons have debuted on The Disney Channel and also over at Disney.Com.
For those that complain how Mickey had been treated since The Cancellation of The House Of Mouse ended take this into consideration. MMC was one of the first shows to deal with kids on a Pre-School level.
I would imagine that the success of Dora The Explorewr had a lot to do with this being the concept and anchor for the program in general. It seemed childish because it was INTENDED TO BE THAT WAY.
But now that interpretation is over they (Disney) had to find a new way to bring back some of his "spunk" which somehow got lost along the way.
